This country is going to hell around us. But we can make a difference.

Hopping up on my soapbox because holy crap my country is falling to pieces around me. I'm exhausted. I am so fucking exhausted keeping up with all of these issues. Every single day, something else happens to threaten the humanity of the people living in my country

Police brutality, abortion, wealth inequality, health care, racism, bigotry. It doesn't fucking end

It never fucking ends.

But what did we expect? Our country was basically founded on the historical version of Westboro Baptist church

They didn't come here "for religious freedom". They weren't being persecuted.

They were religious extremists who banded together to start their own commune in a new land. That commune became the United States of America. 400+ years later, this country is still being run by religious extremists all because the puritan values of a small group of people that landed here over 400 years ago still have enough power to deny me and anyone like me basic human dignity.

Let me tell you, there a lot of people like me in this country. People who just want to build the best lives that we can,but are stuck operating under a system that is literally built to make sure we fail. If we we try to speak up, they silence us. The reason I created this page and keep my identity anonymous from it is because I was literally receiving death threats for posting on the local news station Facebook article that yes, could we please wear masks because you're going to kill a lot of people and I like living

People local to me sliding into my private messages with death threats. P𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 threatening me with death…for not wanting to die. For ONE comment supporting mask mandates in my state. I’m in Arizona and people here are terrifying.

All of this can be boiled down to one thing:

conservatives/bigots/etc "we've successfully oppressed you for the entirety of human history. we've silenced you. we thought we made you go away. how dare you make us deal with your existence? how dare you speak up? what do you mean we can't be openly sexist, racist, bigoted, ablest? I guess we just have to try harder to silence you"

They're losing. and they're willing to kill to win

Those in power have always feared those they oppressed. They fear us because deep down they know they're wrong. They know that eventually EVERY oppressed group will rise up. So they push harder

Well, I'm pushing back. our lives depend on it

Who's with me?

This country was founded by a group of people that would rather leave and start a new society than examine their own behavior. This country was founded by a group of people that were so controlling and so toxic, that the rest of the country didn't want them anymore. Because they were trying to force their beliefs on everyone else. They then turn around and spin the narrative that they were the ones being persecuted and they had to come here because of those big mean people wouldn't let them practice their religion their way, but their religion actively harms damn near anyone it comes in contact with.

That is the foundation of this country. That is the foundation of the laws that we make. That's the foundation of a constitution that says all men are created equal and at the same time codifies white male supremacy.

**That is the foundation of a country whose police force was formed from runaway slave patrols. Who are still actively murdering the Black population under the guise of "law enforcement". But who makes the laws when there's systemic disenfranchisement of the Black community?

That's the foundation of a country that would rather have a Civil War than give up slaves. Yeah, I was one of those people who swallowed the lie that it was about the state's rights. But the states' rights to....? Yeah, that's what I thought.**

For the first time in the human existence, the white, male, and religious supremacy is being challenged on a global scale. For the first time, this country and this globe as a whole are turning around and saying "Hey, maybe you should examine your own behavior"

Only 400 years later, they have a lot more power than they used to.

This is going to make or break my country. These next couple of decades are going to decide whether or not America continues or go down in flames. Given what I've seen in my country, that might actually be literal flames

In the last 5 years alone, we have gone so far backwards in history, it's dizzying

We need to put an end to this. We need to speak up. Don't let them silence you

We can't fix what we won't even discuss and right now I'm busting my ass off just trying to get conversations started

I created this page because there are a lot of messages that need to be heard.

We can't do this alone. We have to come together. We have to talk about the uncomfortable things. We have to face uncomfortable truths in ourselves, even. But we have to face them. We've been sticking our head in the sand for the last several centuries, and this is what we're dealing with. Right now, the Florida governor is going after Disney saying that Disney does not promote family values. If that right there is not enough indication how completely off the fucking off the rails my country has gone?

The thing is, DeSantis doesn't actually give a shit about any of this. he knows that the people who pay him money and vote for him to have this power care. That's exactly what we have to deal with from all of these politicians who run on platforms that they don't actually truly believe. and if we look at their own history, many times they are completely hypocritical

And we keep letting them do it

One of our governing parties literally rioted in our capital 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 all because their candidate lost

This country has lost its fucking mind

What did we expect when we were founded by a group of people that absolutely refuse to examine their own behavior or be held accountable for a fucking thing?

Here's the thing. They're dead. We aren't

So this is a call to action. Speak up. Share these messages. If you see somebody doing something that isn't right, speak up. If your coworker is sexually harassing another coworker, step in and tell them to shut up. And support the victim if they go to HR. find some way to fight for what is right.

We can't say it's not our problem anymore, because it's everyone's problem. And every time we allow this to happen, we pave the way for it to continue

Everyone has their different comfort levels, and everyone has their different abilities. Everyone has their own perspectives.
